pm,
with
the
Honorable
Mayor
Gus
Wetzel
II,
M.D.
welcoming
comments
for
our
first
annual
STABOR®
National
Open
Buddy
Crappie
Tournament
at
Bucksaw
Resort
&
Marina,
Truman
Lake.
Welcoming
comments
of
welcome
to
the
"Clinton
Connection".
He
addressed
a crowed
of
150
anglers
and
said
how
proud
the
City
of
Clinton
is
that
we
chose
his
city
and
the
Golden
Valley/Truman
Lake
Area
for
our
event
and
invited
us
to
visit
again.
Signup
started
around
5:00
pm
with
Don,
Author
and
myself
preparing
each
entrant
with
orange
flags,
safety
pin,
official
weigh-in
form
and
welcoming
them
to
our
fishing
tournament.
Boat
Count:
After
registration
of
the
boats,
came
the
give
away
prizes
form
our
sponsors.
Each
one
got
a
grab
bag
of
products
worth
$35-50
from
sponsors
anxious
to
try
them
during
fishing
the
next
day.
At
the
end
of
the
meeting
we
announced
that
there
was
73
boats
entered
into
the
tournament,
the
next
morning
we
attracted
5
more
boats
making
it
a
total
of
78,
which
entered
for
the
guaranteed
purse
of
$2000
for
the
first
place
winner.
May
2nd,
day
of
the
tournament:
The
weather
condition
was
perfect,
expected
to
be
in
the
low
seventies
throughout
the
day
providing
the
anglers
the
optimum
conditions.
Although
the
pre-fishing
leading
up
to
the
tournament
provided
some
with
good
catches
from
there
favorite
spot,
others
had
shown
little
or
no
success.
Lake
water
rising
from
rainfall
two
days
before
and
crappie
moving
from
their
nest
into
deeper
water
of
10-15
feet
and
two
days
earlier
water
let
out
of
the
dam,
would
render
the
winner
some
difficult
conditions
for
getting
their
limit
when
it
counts.

and
members
of
the
IFBBA
and
STABOR®

were
also
present

Boats

At
the
weigh-in:
Anglers
started
arriving
around
2:30
in
the
afternoon
with
their
catch
limits
anxious
to
view
the
total
weight
and
stand
by
with
the
hope
there's
will
stand
up
the
the
best
weight.
We
were
just
concluding
the
Children's
STABOR®
National
Kids
Fishing
Derby,
which
I'll
respond
later
on
its
outcome.
Sixty-two
of
the
the
anglers
were
able
to
weigh-in
there
catch
out
of
the
78
entries
in
the
tournament.
Crappies
weighing
over
a
pound
seemed
to
be
the
norm
and
a
10
fish
limit.
This
was
indeed
shaping
up
to
be
a tight
race
for
first
place
with
differences
in
the
hundredth's
of
pounds.
Anglers
came
in
with
their
catch
limit
to
a
crowed
of
approximately
400
onlookers
and
entrants,
observing
the
weigh-in,
sitting
transfixed
on
the
scale
hoping
to
stay
in
the
money.
The
famous

each
morning,
presided
over
the
tournament
as
our
Official
Weigh-Master,
providing
commentary,
entertainment,
energy,
which
kept
the
audiences
involved,
as
each
angler
presented
their
catch
on
stage.

Weigh-Master
was
deep
in
the
fray
of
calling
out
the
team
boat
numbers,
placing
their
catch
in
the
basket
and
weighing
the
big
fish
for
each
team
with
mystery
and
intrigue.
